NEW TREASURER AND CHURCH WARDEN FOR PERSHORE ABBEY
CHURCHWARDENS FOR THE ABBEY: We are delighted that Suzanne Clarke was elected to continue in her role as Churchwarden for another year. As Bill Newman has stepped down after serving for six years as Churchwarden, we welcome Sam Andrews as our other Churchwarden. Sam has been involved in our children’s work and Traidcraft stall for many years, and since the pandemic, as a welcoming sidesperson. Sam is a great asset to the team and we wish her well in her new role.
NEW TREASURER AT THE ABBEY: Edward Denley had been appointed as our new Treasurer, which is fantastic news! Edward and his wife, Susan, moved to Pershore during the pandemic and recently became sidespeople. Edward has worked in finance and accounting all his professional life and has absolutely the right skills to ensure that we do all that we can to keep our accounts in good order.
PIPE ORGAN INSTALLATION DELAYED
INSTALLATION DELAYED, BUT WORK CONTINUES!
Last month we were very disappointed to report on the delay that the Covid pandemic has had on the delivery of our new organ. Finding an alternative installation date has been difficult not least because of the supply of missing parts for the organ and the demands on the Abbey during the remainder of 2022. However, we are happy to advise you that in consultation with Fratelli Ruffatti we are now planning for the organ to be delivered and installed between January and March 2023.
Meantime, and as planned, we will complete the enabling work to the new blower room and the triforium including the blackout of the two clerestory windows above the two platforms already installed. This work will take place between 25 April and 13 May 2022 and whilst it should cause minimum disruption to the day-to-day activities of the Abbey, we apologise in advance for any inconvenience that may be caused from time to time. A PRAYER FOR UKRAINE
Bishop John calls on all in the Diocese of Worcester to pray for the people of Ukraine and for peace, and for the leaders of the West as they deliberate on how to respond to the terrible unprovoked aggression of Russia. He has invited people to use the prayer by the Dean of Worcester, Peter Atkinson:
Lord of all the earth,
be present with the people of Ukraine
at this time of danger, fear, and conflict.
Grant that wise and peaceable counsels may yet prevail,
and give to all suffering nations the freedom they desire and deserve.
We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
We will be joining together in a day of Prayer for Ukraine, Russia and Peace this Sunday, 27 February 2022
