Please pray for our new co-Deans of Self-Supporting Ordained Ministers.In December Rosie Moss and Kim Topham were appointed as co-Deans of Self-Supporting Ordained Ministers (SSMs) for the Diocese. They took over from the previous Dean of SSMs, Alex Vaccaro. Both Rosie and Kim are SSMs, Rosie serving as Associate Priest in Worcester and Kim serving as Associate Priest of Hagley and Clent. As co-Deans they will support all those clergy in the Diocese who don’t receive a stipend for the work they do, helping them to network together and providing pastoral care as required.“There are guidelines set out for incumbents, but very little guidance for SSMs, who generally work part-time in parishes,” said Kim. “Many of our SSMs feel quite isolated, they aren’t aware who else is a self-supporting minister and don’t know who they can go to, to ask questions. Hopefully we can be the people that other SSMs feel able to talk to and we can find out the answers if we don’t know them ourselves.”Rosie said: “Both Kim and I have had a really great experience as SSMs and feel very supported in our roles, but we know that’s not the same for everyone. It’s difficult to be a part-time Priest and we want to help people understand what it can look like compared to a full-time incumbent. Our plan is to meet together and work out how best to approach the role, but whatever we decide to do, it will definitely be with a lot of laughter and a lot of love!”Pray for Rosie and Kim in their roles as co-Deans. From now on incubation will take place in earnest for around 31 days.

Hope and prayers for the first #pershore #peregrines to safely hatch at the beginning of May 🙏🏻🕊️

“Now I should remind you, brothers and sisters,

“Now I should remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you—unless you have come to believe in vain.

For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Mrs Peregrine has laid it in the gravel on the platform, right under the camera 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Special thanks to Mark Everett for being on #peregrine watch this morning.

We enter our #holyweek today with our #palmsunday🌿 procession to the Abbey and our Eucharist at 10.30 am which will be live-streamed to our YouTube channel.

At 3pm we have our new Hear My Prayer choral devotion with the Abbey & Five Alive Choirs.

At 5pm we have Iona Worship in the Abbey.

So lots of opportunities to mark the beginning of the holiest of weeks 🙏🏻.

Exciting times this morning!

Mrs P was perched on the “love seat” calling seductively to Mr P on the platform. He kept her waiting for a while. Not something we would recommend Mr P as she’s feisty at the best of times but who are we to offer Peregrine matrimonial advice? 😂🤣

Of course the deed took place as soon as we moved round the corner but luckily it was witnessed by one of our naturists so we are definitely off the starting block 🎉. Now we’re offering prayers that they are third time lucky and get it all right this year. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

All of this took place at about 7.20 am this morning with our Vicar in the Abbey. But as they are Peregrines we will let them off 😉 😂🤣

Loving God, This Mothering Sunday, we thank you

Loving God,

This Mothering Sunday, we thank you for Mothers, Mothering figures, children and for all the joy of family life. 🫶🏻

Be with those who are grieving because their Mother or child is in Heaven 🕊️

Be close to those who are struggling because they were unable to have children. 🙏🏻

Be near to those who are sad because they are far apart from those they love. ❤️

Let your love be present in every home,
And help your church to have eyes to see and ears to hear the needs of all who come. ⛪️

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen.

A short montage of some of our Peregrine hi-lights since January. As you can see, the gravel was put onto the platform via a shoot so as not to disturb them. From mid February we started to see the courtship displays from the ground culminating in Mr Peregrine searching out and offering Mrs Peregrine some choices for nesting. Mr P has now been spotted 3 consecutive days on the platform so it’s looking promising 🤞🏻🦅❤️🦅

We are thrilled to announce that the Pershore Abbey Peregrine camera is now LIVE. You can watch the stream via the link in our bio.

This project is the result of many hours hard work by a dedicated team.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our anonymous donor for the camera, Cllr Dan Boatright & Worcestershire County Council for funding for cabling and screen and materials and most of all, Jason Marshall, Christopher Kimberley, Martyn Spence and Judy Dale for all their time and effort spending many man hours working hard to enable us to be able to watch from our devices. These things are not easy when dealing with a Grade I Listed Building but they have managed to pull it off successfully, just in time for the breeding season.

The nesting platform was made and donated by Jason Marshall last year, and erected by Dawson Steeplejacks with funding from the Friends of Pershore Abbey. Necessary permissions were sought and given. This year, fresh gravel was carefully applied (hands free) via a shoot.

All we need now is for Mr & Mrs Peregrine to play their part 🙏🏻🙏🏻. If previous years are to go by, they should start mating anytime from now to end of March. Usually this takes place on our overflow spouts.
