Well it’s certainly been an eventful start to Monday morning! Mr P, disappointed that his Father’s Day didn’t see his Daughter fly the nest, was up and out this morning preparing breakfast. Next thing he knew, Mrs P was screeching her head off. Now he’s developed the art of blocking out Mrs P’s incessant chatter but he knew this morning something was going on so back to the Abbey he went. To his immense joy, at 4.55 am Spitfire was airborne. Well he was so happy that he did a couple of loops around the Abbey and got his phone out to update the Family Group chat with the glorious news. Then he noticed just why Mrs P was squawking … Spitfire was sat on a gravestone in the churchyard and Mrs P doesn’t do ground level! The boys were really helpful …. Francis had got some pigeon popcorn and the three of them were sat in the tree, watching the drama unfold. “This should be fun!” chuckled Harold. Mr & Mrs P were not so amused. One of the neighbouring Seagulls flew over, laughing his head off and now all his relatives at the Landfill are posting memes on Facebook, using the hashtag Dozy Falcon! 😂🤣As luck would have it, Mrs P spotted the Abbey Media team out early walking their dogs. Thinking on her talons, she flapped and squawked from the nearby tree that she was using as an observation post. Mr P joined in and they flew round the tower getting their attention. So with a quick search of the livestream, our media team worked out that Spitfire had exited from the North side and thankfully found her on the gravestone.Spitfire was very chillaxed and didn’t batter an eyelid at the human she knows well by now. Operation Cardboard Box was deployed but in the 30 minutes it took to open the Abbey, Spitfire simpered and preened for the camera whilst the reserve media team kept people and dogs away. Of course once the box and trusty towel came out, the boys laughed so hard that Lloyd fell off his perch. Spitfire was most indignant and decided that she didn’t want to play damsel in distress after all. Firstly she hopped across the tombstone, then she tried to climb a tree. Then she eventually flew to a low branch, high enough to be safe from dogs! She’s now made it as far as the upper branches of the Cedar near the Apse 🥳 Unfortunately it’s one of the weaker branches so she’s swaying well. Mrs P turned to Mr P and said “That’s a fiver you owe me. I told you that she wouldn’t need carrying in that box!” As most married men eventually realise, the wife is ALWAYS right! 😂🤣❤️🦅 ...
