LENT SERVICES AND GROUPS

CTiP LENTEN APPEAL LAUNCH AND SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKES – TUESDAY 17 FEBRUARY 1530 ST ANDREW’S CENTRE:  Pancakes followed by a presentation, in aid of Friends of the Holy Land. Friends of the Holy Land is a non-political Christian Charity whose mission is to secure a resilient and enduring Christian community in the West Bank, Gaza, Israel and Jordan – the part of the world that Christians call the Holy Land. CTiP PRAY ONE FOR ME:  Members of CTiP plan to meet at Pershore Abbey on Ash Wednesday before going out on to the streets of Pershore between 1100 and 1200 to gather prayers from the community to be read at the Ash Wednesday 1930 service. This is part of the Worcester Diocese “Pray One For Me” initiative that seeks to reach out to people and offer them the opportunity for their prayers to be heard.

ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICE WITH IMPOSITION OF ASHES – WEDNESDAY 18 FEBRUARY 0830, 1000 & 1930 PERSHORE ABBEY:  Joining a service on Ash Wednesday marks the start of Lent. Traditionally a cross made out of ash is marked on a forehead, as a sign of our penitence and God’s forgiveness. The 1930 service will be livestreamed here: Pershore Abbey Community – YouTube

CTiP LENT TALKS STARTING 26 FEBRUARY:

A series of talks entitled Come Together – Same but Different

Hear from the different churches in our Churches Together in Pershore group and discover how each church worships, what traditions it believes are important and how it reaches out and supports its congregation and the wider community.

There will be five talks, each taking place 1930-2030 on the following days:

  • Thursday 26 February – Pershore Abbey at Pershore Abbey, Church Walk, Pershore
  • Thursday 5 March – Pershore Baptist Church at Pershore Baptist Church, Broad Street, Pershore
  • Thursday 12 March – Holy Redeemer Church at Holy Redeemer Church, Priest Lane, Pershore
  • Thursday 19 March – Pershore Community Church at The Banking Hall, High Street, Pershore
  • Thursday 26 March – Together with God – All Four Churches at St Andrew’s Centre, Church Walk, Pershore

LENT & HOLY WEEK COMPLINE BY ZOOM: This quiet and reflective service which will last half an hour will be held every Monday during Lent, commencing on Monday 23 February and then Monday 30 March, Tuesday 31 March and Wednesday 1 April in Holy Week. Services will be at 1900 on Zoom. Please contact vicar@pershoreabbey.org.uk for the Zoom link each week.
