This month we are preparing to welcome Hugh Nelson as our new Bishop of Worcester. Previously Bishop of St Germans in the Diocese of Truro, Bishop Hugh brings with him a deep commitment to community, discipleship, and faithful service.Ordained in 2008 after many years living in the L’Arche community in London, Hugh’s ministry has been rooted in inclusion and shared life. His experience spans rural parishes, diocesan leadership, and his ongoing role as Bishop to the Armed Forces, where he offers pastoral care to chaplains across the services.Lord, we thank you for calling your servant Hugh to be Bishop of Worcester; sustain him by your love, strengthen him in faith, encourage him in hope, and grant him the needful gifts of grace as he begins his ministry among us. ... Our thoughts and prayers are with the Jewish community and those affected by the terrible events on Bondi Beach, as well as those around the world who live in fear of persecution for their religious beliefs 🙏🏻
Has anyone else got over-excited little bears in t Has anyone else got over-excited little bears in their household? The tree is up, the gifts are wrapped, wreaths are made, every day is a chocolate advent day and the smell of mince pies are drifting from the oven. In #pershoreabi's book, that equals Christmas but we are trying to explain to her that we are still in Advent and that patience is required. Like most little bears, patience is not always a skill-set that has been mastered so we are letting her have a sneak preview of the new @thechurchofengland #twelvejoysofchristmas book You can order your copy from Church House Publishing or follow online by downloading the Church of England Everyday Faith app onto your device. Have you been into Pershore to see our beautiful C Have you been into Pershore to see our beautiful Christmas lights yet? This year the town is looking so pretty with the new lights twinkling across the High Street. If you like coloured lights then do walk through the Town Hall and see the tree in their garden. You will see our Abbey bathed in Christmas gold light too and the decorations beautifulky strung around St Andrew's Garden 💡⭐💡⭐💡⭐ Christmas is a difficult period for many but we hope that light shining through the darkness can bring some comfort. 🫶🏻 You are most welcome to come and sit quietly in the Abbey or light a candle in memory of a loved one. We also have a Book of Remembrance for those who sponsor the Abbey floodlights on a special day. It costs £18 for 3 years and the book sits next to the candle burning daily in our South Transept. Full details are available in our leaflets in the Abbey or you can contact the Benefice Office for details. 🕊️

The Abbey is now looking extremely festive through The Abbey is now looking extremely festive throughout 🫶🏼🎄. On Saturday, our annual Bauble Service provided helpers young and old the opportunity to decorate our trees and they look fabulous 😍 Tonight our Moravian Star has been hung and will stay in situ until Candlemas, offering a welcome glow as you enter through the West door. Our Christmas Wreath Festival has also begun and they are on display in our side aisles until Epiphany on 4th January 2026. There is a leaflet available detailing each one that has been crafted by various schools and organisations within the community. Please do take the opportunity to pop in to the Abbey and take it all in. You are always welcome. 🙏🏼

This week, Canon Claire's thoughts are turning tow This week, Canon Claire's thoughts are turning towards Advent and Christmas and explains more about our "Light in our Darkness" service which will be held on Sunday 14th December.
Today at 11am, the annual Armistice Service will b Today at 11am, the annual Armistice Service will be held at the Cross of Sacrifice in Pershore Cemetery. You are most welcome to attend. You are also warmly invited to visit the Town's War Memorial which sits in the South Transept of our beautiful ancient Abbey Church. Please take the time to visit the Commemorative Garden and our War Horse sculpture in the Abbey Park where wreaths have also been laid. The National 2 minute silence will be observed at 11am. A prayer for World peace O God of the nations, as we look to that day when you will gather people from north and south, east and west, into the unity of your peaceable Kingdom, guide with your just and gentle wisdom all who take counsel for the nations of the world, that all your people may spend their days in security, freedom, and peace, through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen (C) The Church of England #armisticeday #wewillrememberthem #prayforpeace
