As the school summer holidays begin, many are looking forward to a change of pace. After months of lessons, exams, assemblies, playground conversations and busy routines, summer can offer a welcome opportunity to rest, reflect and be refreshed.We give thanks for teachers, teaching assistants, administrators, lunchtime supervisors, governors and all who help schools to flourish.For some, this summer marks the end of primary school, secondary school, college or university. There may be excitement about new opportunities, but also uncertainty about what lies ahead.We also remember those for whom the holidays can be difficult. The loss of routine, increased pressures at home, loneliness, financialworries or concerns about safety can make the summer months particularly challenging.We give thanks too for all our churches that offer holiday clubs, activities, meals and safe spaces during the summer, sharing God’s love in practical ways.Loving God, bless all who learn, teach and care for others. It is now 40 days since the fourth egg was laid an It is now 40 days since the fourth egg was laid and only 2 chicks (Pip and Jim) have hatched. Pip arrived on time at Day 33 with Jim on Day 38. We have no way of knowing which 2 eggs these unhatched ones are but if they are eggs 2 and 3 then they are 44 and 42 days old. Normal incubation time for eggs is 32-35 days but they can apparently hatch up to 42 days as we saw with Jim. Mr & Mrs P laid a week earlier this year than the previous 2 years. We estimate our adult birds being around 6-7 years old as they arrived in 2020 and 2021, laying their first eggs in the overflow spout in 2022. There are a number of reasons an egg can be unsuccessful and we may never know the answer. It could be unfertilised, damaged or the embryo simply died. Mrs P is an excellent Mother and is feeding little Jim. Hopefully both chicks will survive and keep each other warm. The adults may discard the eggs from the nest if they have failed or they may well eat/feed the chicks the contents. They could also be broken later on as Pip and Jim become mobile. Of course if one of the eggs is number 4 or if God bestows a miracle upon us, then we might have a late surprise but it's best to be prepared for the fact that we may only have a batch of 2 this year. Nature is a precarious thing but we give thanks to all our team for doing their utmost to help aid it as much as possible and for the fact that we have been blessed with 2 chicks to watch 🙏🏼 In the meantime, Mr P - like most Husbands - is bracing himself for the fact that it will somehow be his fault! 🙄😂. The reality is that this is very common and we have been extremely fortunate for 8 fledglings over the past 2 years. #peregrinefalcon #peregrinechicks

Wishing the Prince and Princess of Wales a very Ha Wishing the Prince and Princess of Wales a very Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary today, which we are celebrating with the Union flag flying from our ancient Abbey Church 🇬🇧 Another reason for celebration is the hatching of our first #pershoreperegrines chick of the 2026 season! 🎉🐣. This one hatched at around 6.30 am and has been named "Pip" by our lovely Vicar. Fingers crossed that the other 3 hatch safely over the Bank Holiday weekend. #peregrinefalcon
