St Andrew's Parish Centre

St Andrew's Parish Centre St Andrew's was formerly a medieval church and following deconsecration in 1972 has become our parish centre. It is a great asset to the Abbey as it provides a base for many activities in the parish.

St Andrews provides the venue for our Junior Church on a Sunday morning. The bell ringers have a lighter ring of 8 bells on which to practice. Parent and Toddler groups meet in St Andrews regularly during the week. During the summer weekends, the main hall often becomes a visitor centre serving teas. Many meetings, social events and fund raising events take place in this venue.

Current fund raising initiatives
In order to keep such a special and well used venue going, much fund raising is needed. We have a current programme of fund raising events with a target to raise £100,000 towards the rejuvination of this much loved centre.

History of St Andrew's
King Edward the Confessor, in the 11th Century, gave lands formerly belonging to Pershore Abbey to endow his cherished foundation at Westminster Abbey. St Andrew's was built to serve the tenants of the Abbot of Westminster.

Parts of the present building date back to 1170. Major alerations and additions were made in the 14th, 15th and 19th Centuries. Services of worship continued until the 1960s. It was deconsecrated in 1972 and re-modelled inside to form a parish centre.
